“Ah, I see, can’t you get your licensee revoked for that?” Jennifer asked before sticking her tongue out quickly and holding onto the blonde’s hand. Claire had always been the mother to tell too much, too fast to everyone and the brunette could only imagine what all…

“Whatever, you were the one who was planning the bedding.” She said as her eyes rolled and smirked a little knowing that the blonde would never let her win. Jennifer didn’t think she was going to have this much pain when she was leaving, but she figured all the movement she was now doing was going to backfire on her at some point. As they grew closer to the steps each second, she could feel her heart pound a little faster. If she was in this much pain from just getting out of a car then the steps would nearly kill her. Hearing the blonde’s comment about her crying, Jennifer laughed and shook her head as the tears continued to flow down her cheeks. “I didn’t, I just thought you were going to be polite and not say anything.” She spoke teasing of course. She hated showing weakness in front of others, it was always something that bothered her- but she was happy that Kirsten was being the strong one for the both of them at that moment. Lifting up her leg slowly, she applied as much pressure on that before moving the rest of her body.

The first step was the hardest, she moaned out in pain, gasping and felt as if she was going to pass out. Clinging to her fiancé Jennifer buried her face into the deep of her neck and took in deep breaths, “I’m sorry…” She whispered before collecting herself and taking more steps. After a good ten minutes, she finally reached the top and held onto the bannister as she caught her breath. “That wasn’t even the hard part of today.” She mumbled to herself as she moved over slowly to the door and wiped her face off, making sure she didn’t appear as if she was crying but knew her attempt was a fail. She was though happy to be home, Jennifer wanted nothing more then to lay in her own bed with the love of her life.

Getting shot can’t stop me from look fabulous.

“Okay, Ms. Douglas, you are free to go home.” The nurse spoke collecting the paperwork and placing them neatly in the manilla folder as she walked into the records office. Clapping her hands…

“Ah, I see, can’t you get your licensee revoked for that?” Jennifer asked before sticking her tongue out quickly and holding onto the blonde’s hand. Claire had always been the mother to tell too much, too fast to everyone and the brunette could only imagine what all Kirsten’s mother already knew about her. She didn’t know why she was getting so worked up about meeting a complete stranger, if she was related to Kirsten then she was positive the woman would be just as loving as her daughter, but still Jennifer felt like a small child again. “Don’t worry about it? How can I not worry?” She asked laughing, “Oh, I pursued you? Uh huh.” Jennifer shook her head and smirked, “You’re correct, I didn’t know what I was getting into with you and boy was I in for a treat.” She squeezed the woman’s hand as she rested her head on the back of her seat, letting her eyes view everything they passed. It had been so long since she had had to sit in traffic, smell horrible diesel fuel and skunks, avoid looking at road kill on the side of the interstate. Jennifer had sort of missed it in a strange way.

“I love you too..” She whispered and closed her eyes, taking in a deep breath and letting it out slowly once feeling her fiancé’s lips against her skin. Kirsten could always calm her down, no matter if she needed to do so or not. She too also enjoyed the quietness, she felt normal again for that short moment, content with herself, Kirsten and reality. “Fine.” She said not happy about it as she unbuckled her belt and then held onto the smaller woman as she got out of the car and winced in pain, tears stinging her eyes but Jennifer quickly blinking them away. “Okay, let’s get the steps over with.” She spoke taking in a deep breath and holding onto the woman, realizing just how much she needed to let someone help her and how much she needed to stop being so stubborn.

“Okay, Ms. Douglas, you are free to go home.” The nurse spoke collecting the paperwork and placing them neatly in the manilla folder as she walked into the records office. Clapping her hands together, Jennifer looked up at the blonde and laughed with a smile plastered on…

“I am fine, I promise! Just a little sore, nothing more.” She spoke softly feeling her heart flutter at Kirsten’s concern about her well being. It was not anything new, but still, Jennifer could not help but smile and feel the way she did each and every single time. “Yes, Doctor Phillips. Thank you so much for following up with me like this, I hope you don’t do it with all of your patients.” She spoke as turned her face to look at blonde’s and winked. The brunette could not help but feel ill knowing that her mother had been taking care of Kirsten’s, the woman was bound to say anything and everything. “Great, and their drinking…” She mumbled, adding it to the list in her head before letting out a halfhearted sigh. “I just really hate that the first time I am going to meet her is after…” Jennifer looked down at her wound, “This.” She said glancing to Kirsten, “I’m sorry.”

Jennifer held onto her fiancé’s hand, bringing it to her lips and kissing the soft, smooth skin over and over again. Her eyes closed a little taking in her scent and a small smile appeared on her mouth, it was Kirsten’s signature smell, the perfume that she always wore. The car ride home was basically silent, the only noise came from the radio station Kirsten had preset in her system. Jennifer was a little happy she turned the woman more on to country and out of everything else the woman was torturing her ears with. “Here we go,” She whispered, squeezing the blonde’s hand more as she watched them pull into the parking lot near the apartment buildings on main campus and let out a shaky breath she had been holding inside. Being back was different- exciting, but strange in a way. After living in the hospital for as long as she did, she thought everything old seemed new.

“Okay, Ms. Douglas, you are free to go home.” The nurse spoke collecting the paperwork and placing them neatly in the manilla folder as she walked into the records office. Clapping her hands together, Jennifer looked up at the blonde and laughed with a smile plastered on her face. “I’m so happy.” She spoke as she reached up and held onto Kirsten’s arm as she stood up from the wheelchair and began to walk towards the parking lot. Swinging their hands back and forth, she stopped whenever she felt the sunshine hit her face and the rest of her body, “Oh, I’ve missed this.” She mumbled to herself. Continuing to walk to the car with Kirsten, she leaned over and kissed the woman’s cheek a few times. Opening the car door, she got in slowly, still a bit sore, and then buckled her seatbelt, closing the door behind her and laying her head back on the rest.

Jennifer sat quietly, watching her future wife walk around the car and could not help but feel lucky. Kirsten had been with her every step of the way and had not left her side. “Oh my god! You’re mother is here!” She gasped once she had remembered. “She’s been stuck with Ma, too! We need to get home and go rescue her.” She said placing her face in her hands.

Guess who gets to go home finally?!
